White Dot is a national campaign against television. They have an interesting site where you can join them and find many resources to find out how to do a better use of your tv.
They also promote some activities like the one of Brighton, where they pulled the people to take some chairs on the evening and sit in front of their doors instead of being watching television, like our grandparents used to do...and we almost lost it. They also have a list of pages to surf and different ways to find your oun entertainment.

White Dot was started in 1996 by Jean Lotus as a newsletter for people who don't watch television. In the same year David Burke launched the British edition by standing on a busted TV set in front of a sign saying "Get A Life" near Westminster Abbey and reading out a letter to Prince Charles asking him not to televise his coronation.

Since then we put up the website and introduced TV-Turnoff Week to Britain. That continues to receive national and international press coverage. We have also written two books, our anti-TV guide called Get A Life (Bloomsbury Publishing 1998) and our investigation into the privacy issues surrounding digital interactive television, Spy TV (Slab-O-Concrete 2000).

We have run Zocolos to promote TV-free living. That is the Mexican word for town square, and I was inspired by the way Mexicans use theirs - sitting outside with other people, all age groups, any night of the week. We leafleted a neighborhood in Brighton and persuaded residents to sit outside their houses for a night instead of watching TV. Turnout was good, and children loved it. A dozen people volunteered to help organize more zocalos.

We hope this visible demonstration of "what you do if you don’t watch TV" will spread out of Brighton, generating continuous discussion about how the use of free time can build or weaken communities. We are creating a small Zocalo Kit to help people start their own.

In 2005 White Dot helped publicise and sell the TV-B-Gone, a keyring that turns off any television. To launch this modest revolution we got volunteers in London, Brighton, Cornwall, Edinburgh and other cities to zap TV sets in cafes and pubs.

1. 9/11 was Planned by the US Government [Wikpedia]

Many conspiracy theories have been presented concerning the September 11, 2001 attacks, many of them claiming that President George W. Bush and/or individuals in his administration knew about the attacks beforehand and purposefully allowed them to occur because the attacks would generate public support for militarization, expansion of the police state, and other intrusive foreign and domestic policies by which they would benefit.

Proponents point to the Project for the New American Century, a conservative think tank that argues for increased American global leadership, whose former members include ex-Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, Vice President Dick Cheney and several other key Bush administration figures. An 1990 report from the group stated that “some catastrophic and catalyzing event — like a new Pearl Harbor” would be needed to budge public opinion in their favor.

2. UFO Recovered at Roswell [Wikpedia]

The Roswell UFO Incident involved the recovery of materials near Roswell, New Mexico, USA, in July 1947, which have since become the subject of intense speculation, rumor, questioning and research. There are widely divergent views on what actually happened, and passionate debate about what evidence can be believed. The United States military maintains that what was recovered was a top-secret research balloon that had crashed.

By the early 1990s, UFO researchers such as Friedman, William Moore, Karl Pflock, and the team of Kevin Randle and Don Schmitt had interviewed several hundred people [11] who had, or claimed to have had, a connection with the events at Roswell in 1947. Additionally, hundreds of documents were obtained via Freedom of Information Act requests, as were some apparently leaked by insiders, such as the disputed “Majestic 12″ documents. Their conclusions were that at least one alien craft had crashed in the Roswell vicinity, that aliens, some possibly still alive, were recovered, and that a massive cover-up of any knowledge of the incident was put in place.

3. John F. Kennedy’s Assasination [Wikpedia]

The assassination of John F. Kennedy, the thirty-fifth President of the United States, took place on Friday, November 22, 1963, in Dallas, Texas, USA at 12:30 p.m. CST (18:30 UTC). Kennedy was fatally wounded by gunshots while riding with his wife Jacqueline in a presidential motorcade through Dealey Plaza. The official investigation by the Warren Commission was conducted over a ten-month period, and its report was published in September 1964. The Commission concluded that the assassination was carried out solely by Lee Harvey Oswald, an employee of the Texas School Book Depository in Dealey Plaza.

A number of conspiracy theories exist with regard to the assassination of U.S. President John F. Kennedy. Such theories began to be generated soon after his death, and continue to be proposed today. Many of these theories propose a criminal conspiracy involving parties such as the Federal Reserve, the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), the KGB, the Mafia, Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) director J. Edgar Hoover, Vice President Lyndon B. Johnson, Richard Nixon, Fidel Castro, George H. W. Bush, Cuban exile groups opposed to the Castro government and the military and/or government interests of the United States.

4. Global Warming is a Fraud [Wikpedia]

The suggestion of a conspiracy to promote the theory of global warming was put forward in a 1990 documentary The Greenhouse Conspiracy broadcast by Channel Four in the United Kingdom on 12 August 1990, as part of the Equinox series, which asserted that scientists critical of global warming theory were denied funding.

William Gray, phD (a pioneer in the science of hurricane forecasting) has made a list of 15 reasons for the global warming hysteria. The list includes the need to come up with an enemy after the end of the Cold War, and the desire among scientists, government leaders and environmentalists to find a political cause that would enable them to ‘organize, propagandize, force conformity and exercise political influence. Big world government could best lead (and control) us to a better world!’ In this article, Gray also cites the ascendancy of Al Gore to the vice presidency as the start of his problems with federal funding. According to him, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration stopped giving him research grants, and so did NASA.

5. Princess Diana was Murdered by the Royal Family [Wikpedia]

In 1997, Princess Diana (Princess of Wales) and Dodi Fayed (son of Mohamed Fayed, owner of the Ritz Hotel and Harrods) were killed in a car accident while trying to get away from press photographers in Paris. The scandal surrounding their relationship (Dodi was Muslim whilst Diana was the mother of the future head of the Church of England) has led many people to speculate that they were actually killed in order to prevent further scandal to the throne of England.

Polls suggest that around a quarter of the UK public, and a majority of people in some Arab countries, believe that there was a plot to murder Diana, Princess of Wales. Motivations which have been advanced for such a conspiracy include suggestions that Diana intended to marry Dodi Fayed, that she intended to convert to Islam, that she was pregnant, and that she was to visit the holy land. Organizations which conspiracy theorists suggest are responsible for her death have included French Intelligence, the British Royal Family, the press, the British Intelligence services MI5 or MI6, the CIA, Mossad, the Freemasons, or the IRA.

6. Jewish World Domination [Wikpedia]

This theory, in recent history, extends mainly from the booklet The Protocols of the Elders of Zion, which are widely considered to be the beginning of contemporary conspiracy theory literature. The Protocols are considered by some to be an anti-Jewish literary forgery that purports to describe a Jewish plot to achieve world domination. Numerous independent investigations have repeatedly proven it to be a plagiarism and a hoax, yet numerous independent investigations have shown it to be a factual document.

The text was popularized by those opposed to Russian revolutionary movement, and was disseminated further after the revolution of 1905, becoming known worldwide after the 1917 October Revolution. It was widely circulated in the West in 1920 and thereafter. The Great Depression and the rise of Nazism were important developments in the history of the Protocols.

7. Apollo Moon Landing Hoax [Wikpedia]

Apollo Moon Landing hoax accusations are claims that some or all elements of the Apollo Moon landings were faked by NASA and possibly members of other involved organizations. Some groups and individuals have advanced alternate historical narratives which tend, to varying degrees, to state that the Apollo Astronauts did not land on the moon, and that NASA created and continues to perpetuate this hoax.

Moon hoax proponents devote a substantial portion of their efforts to examining NASA photos. They point to various issues with photographs and films purportedly taken on the Moon. Experts in photography (even those unrelated to NASA) respond that the anomalies, while sometimes counterintuitive, are in fact precisely what one would expect from a real Moon landing, and contrary to what would occur with manipulated or studio imagery. Hoax proponents also state that whistleblowers may have deliberately manipulated the NASA photos in hope of exposing NASA.

8. Pearl Harbor Was Allowed to Happen [Wikpedia]

This theory states that President Roosevelt (FDR) provoked the attack, knew about it in advance and covered up his failure to warn the Hawaiian commanders. FDR needed the attack to sucker Hitler to declare war, since the public and Congress were overwhelmingly against entering the war in Europe. It was his backdoor to war.

Theorists believe that the US was warned by, at least, the governments of Britain, Netherlands, Australia, Peru, Korea and the Soviet Union that a surprise attack on Pearl Harbor was coming. All important Japanese codes were broken. FDR and Marshall and others knew the attack was coming, allowed it and covered up their knowledge.

9. The Third Secret of Fatima [Wikpedia]

The Three Secrets of Fatima are said to be three prophecies that were given by an apparition of the Blessed Virgin Mary to three young Portuguese shepherds, Lucia Santos and her cousins Jacinta and Francisco Marto. From May to October, 1917, the three children claimed to have witnessed this Marian apparition, which is today popularly described as Our Lady of Fatima. On July 13 the Virgin Mary is said to have entrusted the three secrets - in the form of prophecies - to the young visionaries. Two of the secrets were revealed in 1941 in a document written by Lucia to assist with the canonization of her cousins, while the third was to remain secret, although the bishop of Leiria commanded Lucia to put it in writing and to present it to the Pope.

A Catholic priest who has apparently seen the original text of the “third secret” of Fatima disputes the official interpretation of the secret released by the Vatican. Furthermore, he has asked key people in the Vatican about the text and has gotten no response. While the Priest’s comments are somewhat radical, they are not without merit, as he has seen the secret with his own eyes. Moreover, while the first 2 secrets are fairly obvious and clear, leading some to wonder why the third one is required to be examined by a team of experts because of its complexity.

10. The Philadelphia Experiment [Wikpedia]

The Philadelphia Experiment was an alleged naval military experiment at the Philadelphia Naval Shipyard in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, sometime around the date of October 28, 1943, in which the U.S. destroyer escort USS Eldridge was to be rendered invisible to human observers for a brief period of time. It is also referred to as Project Rainbow. The story is widely regarded as a hoax. The U.S. Navy has stated that the experiment never occurred, and furthermore, details of the story contradict stated facts about the Eldridge. It has nonetheless caused a significant ripple effect in many conspiracy theory circles, and elements of the Philadelphia Experiment are featured in many other government conspiracy theories.

According to some accounts, the experiment was conducted by a Dr. Franklin Reno (or Rinehart) as a military application of a Unified Field Theory. The theory, briefly, postulates the interrelated nature of the forces that comprise electromagnetic radiation and gravity. Through a special application of the theory, it was thought possible, with specialized equipment and sufficient energy, to bend light around an object in such a way as to render it essentially invisible to observers. The Navy considered this application of the theory to be of obvious military value (especially as the United States was engaged in World War II at the time) and both approved and sponsored the experiment. A navy destroyer escort, the USS Eldridge, was fitted with the required equipment at the naval yards in Philadelphia.

Apollo Moon Landing Hoax

In 1959 Bill Kaysing predicted that at that time, the chances of getting a man to the moon and back alive were 0.0014%, taking into account radiation and micro meteors.

Just 2 years later US president J. F. Kennedy made his famous speech.

“I believe that this nation should commit itself. To achieving the goal, before this decade is out, of landing a man on the Moon and returning him safely to the Earth. No single space project in this period will be more impressive to mankind or more important for the long range exploration of Space.”

Eight years later in on the 16th of July 1969, Apollo 11 was launched on a mission to the moon and back, carrying three people. On the 20th of July Apollo 11 landed on the moon. Neil Armstrong stepped out of the Lunar Module (LM) in front of a watching world, climbed down the ladder and said those famous words.

“One small step for man one giant leap for mankind”

And in doing so, Neil Armstrong won the moon race against Russia for America, and proved to an entire world that the sky isn’t the only limit.

Or so NASA said!

Ever since 1969, a small but loud crowd of people have doubted that America did send a man to the moon, and the Apollo Hoax was born.

My war: Killing Time in Iraq

My War focuses a person so the down-to-earth experiences of a soldier, chronicling the daily life, absurdities and ennui in addition to the combat events. Its blunt, unrefined style has been praised for honesty as well as criticized for the heavy use of profanities. It incorporates some material from Buzzell's early journal and much from his later milblog of the same name, which became highly popular in its scant few weeks of operation.

Weapons of Mass Deception

A hot debate is raging on whether Iraq had weapons of mass destruction and whether the Bush administration—to justify its invasion of Iraq—deceived the public on evidence that those weapons existed. Evidence for such “micro-deception” seems apparent from the widespread leaks to the press by disgruntled intelligence analysts complaining of administration pressure to make intelligence fit Bush’s hard-line Iraq policy. Also, the Bush administration, ignoring expert analysis from the Department of Energy that imported Iraqi aluminum tubes could not be used to make nuclear weapons, included the accusation that they could in Secretary of State Powell’s speech to the United Nations aimed at building support for a tough resolution on Iraq. Similarly, President Bush did not retract his claim, in this year’s State of the Union speech, that Iraq tried to buy uranium from an African nation even when the allegation was found to be based on forged documents. Finally, two dissenting reports from State Department intelligence analysts—noting that no reliable evidence existed that Iraq had restarted its nuclear program—were dropped from the version of a government intelligence estimate released to the public. But as usual, the press focuses on the flea and ignores the elephant—“macro-deception” by the administration.

The press’s intense focus on finding Iraqi weapons of mass destruction may have an undesirable outcome. If weapons are eventually found, the issue of the administration’s deception could evaporate. No one will focus on Bush’s larger deception of the American people in his effort to sell his military adventure. For starters, even if unconventional weapons are found, the key fact is that Saddam Hussein did not use them even in the scenario in which almost all Western military analysts predicted that he would do so—the dire situation of a foreign invader taking out his regime (and possibly him). If Hussein did not use such weapons in that extreme situation, he most certainly would not have used them, in the absence of an invasion, against a superpower with a world-dominant nuclear arsenal. The hawks might respond that one can never be sure about a despot’s intentions. But during Gulf War I and its aftermath, Hussein had no track record of using unconventional weapons against nuclear-armed powers—Israel, France, Britain and the United States.

Hussein also had no incentive to give, or history of giving, such weapons to terrorists—another Bush administration justification for the invasion. In fact, the administration accused Iraq of supporting terrorism but forgot to mention that the groups Hussein supported didn’t focus their attacks on U.S. targets (they primarily attack Israeli targets). Furthermore, Hussein had no incentive to give super weapons, which are expensive to develop and produce, to radical and unpredictable terrorist groups that could turn them against him or that could get him into even more trouble with the great powers.

Of course, the CIA told the Bush administration that Hussein was unlikely to use any weapons of mass destruction or give them to terrorists unless the United States provoked him by attacking Iraq. Senator Bob Graham (D-FL), then chairman of the Senate Intelligence Committee, requested that the CIA’s analysis be declassified before the Congress debated the resolution to support the war. In response, the administration declassified only those findings that supported its bellicose position. Graham had to pressure the administration to get the entire text declassified. Unfortunately, that astoundingly important analysis—making Hussein’s possession of unconventional weapons (even in the absolute worst case, nuclear arms) less important—was ignored by the Congress, the press, and the American public in the race to support the administration’s war. In other words, a small, relatively poor nation could be deterred even from using a few nuclear weapons against a superpower with thousands of nuclear warheads. Well in advance of the war, the CIA report clearly indicated that Hussein was not the imminent threat the administration claimed.

To drum up public support for a dubious policy, the administration also was beside itself to tie Saddam Hussein to the attacks of September 11—which it never succeeded in doing. Hardliners at the Pentagon highlighted a report from an unreliable student informant about an alleged meeting between an Iraqi intelligence official and hijacker-in-chief, Mohammed Atta, in Prague in April 2001. The FBI debunked that yarn by noting that Atta’s hotel and rental car receipts during that period showed he was in the United States.

Whenever the rationale for a government policy changes rapidly, one must become suspicious that the administration in power is test-marketing justifications to win the support of the public and the relevant government bureaucracies. Rarely, however, do high-level government officials admit that this occurs—as did Deputy Defense Secretary Paul Wolfowitz when he admitted that the administration settled on Iraqi weapons of mass destruction as the justification for the invasion because that was the only issue the security bureaucracies could agree on. If an administration is shopping for reasons to invade another country and has to deceive the public and Congress to justify its actions, perhaps it should reconsider the policy. Equally important, if information on the weapons programs of rogue states is so inconclusive that the administration has to distort and embellish it, how can the United States conduct a strategy of “preemptive war” that is critically dependent on good intelligence?

Introduction

For a long time journalism has been a concept that most of the people from these society just could use as a receptor, as the television, the radio, the newspaper, the advisements. So people is most used to listen and recieve information than give and bring opinion to other persons or medias. These aspect of the medias some times has made the people think or feel that those medias are definetly the truth, but has been proved that these is not allways like that, the traditional medias use to have an objective position of the issuie about what they are making the report, and just checking diferent resources of these same media you can clearly apreciate how the events are manipultated and distorted in the way the show it to the audience.
But now a days thanks to the digital media people have acces to the journalism as a receptor and emisor. Before the digital media If you'd want to advise a considerable number of people about something the different options that you had where slow and complicated, because not every one can appear on the TV and give and advise, not every one can speak in the radio, not every one can write on the newspapers, but every one can write, speak, and appear in internet.
On of the most popular and accessible for most of the people are the "blogs", every one can open a blog about whatever he or she wants and start to upload stuff about it as videos, picutres, text, links, references...And the most interesting caracteristic of the blogs is that there is a directly relationship between the person that is writing and the reader because these information is not manipulated by an editor as in the traditional medias, these is good and bad in some aspects, for one side you don't have a gartantie of quality but at the same time there is a unic freedoom that you wouldn't find anywhere else. In some aspects we could say that the bloggers are "playing journalism". As the popular tech blog Moder Life said:

"The barriers to entry normally associated with the press are effectively gone and passionate folk now have near absolute free reign to write whatever and however they please."

The most popular mass media have change the concept of the truth as an autority for the autority as a truth, following these way there is a rule of thinking that every thing that is said or wrote or showed by those medias is the truth. But with a good enhacement of the digital medias as a news resources or main point to get information we can repare these concept and get again the truth as an authority.

Aim

The main aim of these project is allow every one to comunicate in a free way with every one, doing a pure journalism where every body is free to express themselfs and discuss about diferent kind of issues. "The Whoppers" is gonna be a site were people will find what the other media hide, simply don't say or distorted and manipulated. If someone knows about something that not every one or not a lot of people can know, they can use the site to make the people know about it. There's not going to be any filter, any gerachy, the user will make their oun gerarchy, thery oun slection, they are going to be their oun filter by reading the news or commentis with an objective actitude.
These will help me to realise what the people think about the traditional medias and what the demand for them, so with the innovative caracteristics and skills that digital media allow me to use I will be able to bring more acurated information to the audience a get them more satisfy.

Objectives

The uncovert objective of these project is keep the people informed about the main news about these society from different points of view, and also with free and public coments about those different points of view so every one would be abel to develop their own summary about the situation, and if they thing that something must be known for every one they can do their own post.
But the direction of these site will be more focalized to the issues that are not very reported for the traditonal media, or they are not really clear when you check different resources for some reason, or semply because the traditonal media don't even mention them.
The whoppers will be a site with a blog integrated on it, so the fact of upload, download and share stuff will be more accessible for every one, there they will find a welcome page that will lide them a bit about what they can find in these website, and section with a text to express what is these site about, also some resources to enhace the concept of the site so the audience will have a clear idea about what can they find here.
So it will bring ot the audience an archive of resources that they will be able to use to find what is really happening, but to know it the user will have to take the information from the resources that he will think are trusthable. By these way people will have their oun truth or they oun idea about what is going on but also a list of resources and arguments to prove that.
One of the aspects that the site will welcome as well will be non-publicity concept, because now a days our society is submited to way of life that is just controlled by a few people, as the multinationals that actually they have more rights than a human being and they are thousand times more powerfull, so by these way they have a full control of the societies making then scared and bringing a lot of products to by their safety. Of course those multinationals control all those traditonal medias, that's why these issues is going to be one of the more commons fo the site.

For example if on the website we are speaking about the war in Iraq, about what is going on up there, we can quickly make a reference about the blog "My War" wrote by a soldier on service in Iraq every day after his journey, these has more power and authority than the best ‘embedded reporter’ could manage, that could be a clear triumpht of the blogs over the traditonal media.

But the cover objective of these project is to prove that our education is corrupted, our medias are corrupted, there is someone that is distorting the news as he or she want, they impose a way of life, a way of thinking, most of the time in the history tha main intention of the media was not to keep inform the people, was to control them and make them belive what they want, for example that they are free when they are in the bigest jail ever seen.

Research metodology

The primariy resources that I will use will be a questionnaire firstable to know what people really think about the traditional medias, wha they demand from them and in with aspects are they satisfied, so I will be able to improve it. The questionnaire will also give me a idea about if they will be interested or they will find usefull these kind of sites. Another research that I will try to get is an interview with some active person on those traditional medias so I could find and idea about in wich way the reports are ruled or edited and some suggestions about how to bring the most important things that all the other medias are missing.
